Surya Charan - is a 24 year old Computer Science graduate who is a Senior Software Engineer working in a banking solutions company. He's a Harry Potter Enthusiast who one day dreamt of making a fantasy film when he was 15 years old. As he progressed through life, he took to a career in IT, and had no time in his daily life to pursue his hobbies or passion.
When he came across Level Up learning, he had immediately signed up to learn from our Filmmaking Course and we were excited to onboard him onto our early learner program.
Here is what he has to say :

I was always fascinated by how movies are made, by how one gives life to words and scripts, by how they tell a tale and make the world visualise it immersively. Even though my career had taken a different path and I ended up becoming a software engineer, story telling was ingrained within me. With the free time I had, I always read articles about cinema, watched as many movies as I could, netflixed and chilled. But these were just inspirations and cues, I needed formal or vocational education that would help understand concepts and theories involved, see dimensions that were never realised, and break movies into chapters, chapters into scenes, scenes into frames.

In dire need I tried multiple sources of knowledge, most of them were long term degrees, too theoretical, not well structured or simply not affordable. I simply couldn't manage to learn cinema and work as a software engineer at the same time.

That's when I came across this beautiful course by Karthik subburaj, (he needs no introduction, before I became a student I was a huge fan) in level up learning. I was in the huge sea trying to learn, not finding the right direction, this acted like the compass.

The course covered many important concepts and showed me the way to discover what's left. It had everything starting from finding the story, to how one structures a narrative and builds a screenplay with dialogue writing and characterization. It also involved other things like film planning, sound design and production design.

Not to forget the most important part, case studies from his movies were so detailed and helped me see the world in his eyes.

The supplementary resources provided were  so good, trust me these by itself are more valuable than anything. It's well structured and easy to understand. To say, I would pay the course fee just for these would be an understatement.

What Moves you - Makes you.

Go beyond just learning.

Whenever you like, wherever you go.
